Abstract

Continuously emerging technologies support different facets of archaeological research. This paper discusses a new resource in our area, uavs, better known as drones, whose use falls within the scope of spatial representation and what can be derived from it: textured images, or­ thophotos, topographic maps, and digital elevation models, whose application has benefits linked to the optimization of resources and time. In the absence of a document showing their foundations, how to manipulate them, and their utility, this paper, based on extensive practice, offers different sorts of examples to show the technology’s scope and limitations, which can result from a multipli­ city of factors. It includes a glossary and a list of the basic protocol to carry out missions or flights.
