Abstract

The project of autonomous power plant rated at 1 MVA comprises devices, based on application of high-temperature superconductors (HTSC): axial-type synchronous generator with a wind turbine, magnetic energy storage system (SMES), peripheral power electronic devices (for both the generator and SMES) and cryogenic system. The plant is intended to provide additional electric power to a developing medical center or to be a source of uninterrupted power supply for responsible consumers of the hospital in case of any fault case. The project is based on the development and experimental investigation of several models, confirming the design of HTSC alternator and SMES.
