This utilizes time domain 3-D ray tracing coupled with antenna modeling to provide an overall channel simulation. The time-domain radiating characteristics of different linear antennas in transmission and reception in a typical indoor environment are used as representative of typical antennas. The UWB channel was studied with and without considering antenna effect and the system performance are evaluated accordingly. Broadly, link performance is affected by two different factors: radiation pattern from the antenna and impedance mismatch effects.
