Abstract
The synchronous generator emulation (SGE) techniques has proven to be an attractive solution to interconnect distributed generation (DG) units based on renewable energy sources (RES) to the power grid. Thus, transient characteristics of these strategies are very important for suitable system operation. Therefore, this paper proposes a SGE technique that employs a Lead controller to regulate the DG active power flow in order to improve its transient behavior. In addition, proposed SGE strategy dynamic characteristics are discussed, and their designed control gains. The SGE strategy performance is assessed by means of simulation results. The obtained results reveal the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis and proposed SGE technique.
