Intrusion Detection Systems: Conceptual Study and Review

Abstract

Recently, the increase in the usage of the internet and digital devices has influenced a lot of people and it has resulted in the transmission of data on a very large scale. Data transmissions have lots of issues and problems such as data security, data privacy, and data confidentiality. A lot of security mechanisms are implemented to tackle these issues and to improve computer system security. However, these issues are the biggest problem in the digital world as we cannot say that any device is 100% secure at this moment. An antivirus software is traditionally used over the years to provide security and safety to the digital devices. Nowadays, an Intrusion Detection System that works like an antivirus has been used and helped in detecting and preventing intrusions and attacks. In this survey paper, we presented a survey on the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) with its introduction, its types, and related work.
