ASSESSMENT OF THE OIL AND GAS POTENTIAL OF DOMANIK DEPOSITS IN THE SOUTHEASTERN PART OF THE MUKHANO-EROKHOVSKY TROUGH

Abstract

High-carbon clay-siliceous-carbonate sediments of the Domanik formation, which are widespread within the Kama-Kinel system of uncompensated troughs, are one of the most promising objects for future development on the territory of the Volga-Ural oil and gas field. Based on the analysis and integration of an extensive base of geological, geophysical and geochemical information, the work considers the geological features of the distribution of unconventional hydrocarbon accumulations in Domanik sediments, which are characterized by the fact that rocks containing oil are simultaneously oil-producing and are not a reservoir in the traditional sense. The paper considers the conditions of formation, the main features of the structure, composition and distribution of the Domanik formation; the analysis of geochemical characteristics was carried out, the generation potential and the degree of catagenetic transformation were estimated, zones of prospects were identified.
