The activity, carried out in the framework of the collaboration between RSE and the University of Padova, has started with the definition and set-up of the reference power and energy scenario for the year 2030. The selected power and energy scenario for the Italian system at the horizon year 2030 is based on the NECP (National Energy and Climate Plan). Abstract

The present paper describes the network analyses and the evaluation studies concerning the potential HVAC (High Voltage Alternating Current)-to-HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) conversion of a transmission line in a realistic case of the Italian power system in a 2030 scenario. The activity, carried out in the framework of the collaboration between RSE and the University of Padova, has started with the definition and set-up of the reference power and energy scenario for the year 2030. The selected power and energy scenario for the Italian system at the horizon year 2030 is based on the NECP (National Energy and Climate Plan).
