From the chair

Abstract

This newsletter is the first after the SC17 Conference, so let me start with a few highlights of specific importance to SIGHPC. We updated members and heard back from them at our annual SIGHPC business meeting. Three of our SIGHPC chapters also held meetings as part of the BOF program: the SIGHPC Big Data Chapter, SIGHPC Education Chapter, and Special Interest Group on HPC in Resource Constrained Environments (SIGHPCRCE). We will run features on all chapters, beginning with SIGHPC-Edu in this issue. Finally, we presented the inaugural ACM SIGHPC Emerging Woman Leader in Technical Computing Award to Ilkay Altintas (University of California's San Diego Supercomputer Center). It was a busy show!
