Abstract

Evolving fault is starting in single phase of transmission line and expanding to other phase after some time. The faults occurring at different times in different phases are very tricky to find correct location using conventional system. A new computing network for location of evolving faults on over transmission line (OTL) is focused in this paper. The algorithm is obtained from fuzzy logic tool box and is worked on the currents, voltages and impedances at one side terminal. The three phase current and voltage data of OTL are simulated by MATLAB based software. These are processed through different tools for fault location. It is effective to compute the correct location of evolving fault and error is kept within 0.43 percentage. The results confirm that the network is not affected by the alterations in fault types, locations, inception angles and resistances. The proposed algorithm is easy and simple in comparison with other fault-location algorithms.
