In recent years, there has been a contradiction in how to make good use of resource while protecting environment, and that has become an important problem constraining economic growth. Therefore, as the premise of economic development, environmental protection is the basic requirement in adjustment of economic structure and development way for the country. The construction of power grid has provided a strong guarantee and made great contributions to the steady development of social economy and the improvement of people's living standards, however, some problems concerning environment have also been caused in this process. Based on the analysis of background and meaning of power grid environmental protection planning, the research content is determined. According to the identification of key environmental influencing factors in power grid planning, this paper makes analysis of environmental protection planning method of regional power grid, as well as makes a study of indicator system of environmental risk assessment, raising an environmental risk assessment method of regional power grid based on P-S-R framework indicator system. This method is to overlap environmental sensitive areas based on data, present the environmental impact of power grid planning on cities in a vivid way, and correct some errors in the traditional assessment method. Based on a full analysis of regional environmental protection data, the environmental risk prediction value is obtained. The environmental risk assessment of regional power grid is carried out with examples.
