Abstract
We propose a novel superstrate for microstrip patch antennas, which is actually a metamaterial lens that could enhance the directivity of the antennas without changing their operation frequencies and the directions of maximum radiation. Such a superstrate could also be applied to other kinds of planar antennas, which is very important in the modern antenna designs.
