Abstract
Summary Purpose: The present study analyzed effect of self-monitoring with feedback on emotional indicators, quality of life and adherence to treatment in a patient with diabetes. Methods: A 57 year-old adult participated in this study with Type 2 diabetes. The instruments used were: Medical records, interview scripts, Lipp Stress Symptoms Inventory (LSSI), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI); and Questionnaire SF-36 were used as data collection. Results: Initially, the participant demonstrated stress in the resistance phase, 9,2% of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), with low adherence to diet but with perception of good quality of life. After the intervention, the participant demonstrated 6,7% of HbA1c and improvement in the emotional indicators’ levels. Neither adherence to diet nor physical activity degrees changed during the study. Conclusions: The results suggest improvement in emotional indicators and in HbA1c levels, even though it has not caused improvement in adherence to diet and in physical activity practice.
