Abstract
Distribution generation (DG) units and flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) devices are transforming the conventional power grid into localized and reliable systems. This paper offers a composite survey on various optimization techniques and objectives, aiming at optimal siting and sizing of DG units together with FACTS devices, in power distribution networks. The scope of this paper covers analytical/numerical, heuristic/meta heuristic, and other relevant optimization techniques. Moreover, a comprehensive review is offered from the perspective of prominent objectives such as power quality, loss minimization (LM), voltage maximization (VM), reliability, stability and economic aspects, respectively. The future research dimensions are also mentioned in this paper.
