Abstract
Recently, information dissemination techniques in Delay/Disruption Tolerant Networks (DTNs) have actively been studied as a technology that enables robust communication without pre-installed infrastructures. To achieve the robust communication in DTNs, Epidemic routing is widely used. It provides robust data transfer by disseminating data to all nodes. However, it generates many duplicate control message exchanges. When a node tries to share lots of small data such as node position information, message exchange overhead becomes large. In this paper, we propose a message transmission control scheme that can reduce the number of duplicate control messages. The proposed scheme decides whether to send the control message by estimating which control messages neighbor nodes received to prevent sending duplicate control message. Through simulation experiments, we demonstrate that the proposed scheme decreases the number of control messages with data dissemination speed kept.
