Abstract

This paper presents an expert system for fault location estimation and fault type classification of underground cable systems. Many works on protection of underground cable have been reported in literature. However, these methods have a major disadvantage in that they need to stop power supply, while the proposed system does not. The system is simulated with CLIPS (C Language Integrated Production System) and MATLAB. EMTP data is used to demonstrate the capability of the proposed expert system.
