Abstract

Proper waveguide template excitation in EM simulations is one of the key factors to perform fast and accurate FDTD modelling. In some special, but practical cases, the well-known template generation method [1] with one point excitation can lead to numerical problems: it can be ill-conditioned and/or slow. In this paper, it is presented how to improve numerical conditions by exciting 2D waveguide template using a set of excitation points.
