Abstract
The paper reports the authors' experience and observations in promoting a student satellite community in a university. The formation of the community helps students in developing their hard- and soft-skills. The community is organized into two sections. The management section is crucial for the soft-skills development, whereas the research and development section is more concerned with improvement of students' knowledge and skills and contribution to the fields of satellite technology with the help from the Lab-Based Education system. The success of the satellite community can be measured from its achievements in improving the students' skills, the number of final projects completed, the achievements in national contests, and the success of student scientific conference held by the community. In addition, students responses to their experience with the student satellite community reflect their care and attention to the community.
