Abstract
This paper focuses on the islanding operation of the wind turbine generator (WTG) type 4 (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator or PMSG). An AC microgrid, equipped with multiple WTGs and energy storage serves its own loads. Grid Forming (GFM) inverter control technology is applied to the PMSG converter to enable the WTGs to operate independently without the need of an energy storage. A P- V droop method is applied at the turbine power reference to ensure faster control over the voltage. Simulation results with various contingency scenarios are presented to demonstrate the stability of the system with the proposed controls.
