Abstract
In Mauritius, one fifth of the population suffers from diabetes, making a Therapeutic Patient Education (TPE) Programme important for the population. The objective is to integrate technology in a TPE process proposed to diabetic patients, more precisely in a TPE structure referred to as the learning nest. People suffering from diabetes can be empowered through education sessions conducted in groups, on a face-to-face basis. Self-management and decision-making can be consolidated with the help of a mobile application which will allow follow up of diabetic patients participating in the TPE programme to keep track of evolution of some vital biomedical parameters as well as compliance towards health actions opted for during the face to face educational sessions, taking into consideration the social context and environment. Participants will be able to assess their health states based on evolution of their calculated health scores when their biomedical data are recorded and updated.
