Abstract

The article deals with the naming models of two-digit numbers in West, North and East (Gothic) Germanic languages. Both structural and semantic models are viewed. As shown, two structural models are possible: compounding (more frequently used) and derivation. The semantic models revealed base on two criteria: tally direction (onward and backward models) and tally base (decimal and vigesimal models).
