MoMPt tools: Enabling HTPCs access using UPnP and web services

Abstract

This paper presents the MoMPt project, an open source project developed to allow access to multimedia content and to control multiple HTPCs remotely using mobile devices. The main contribution in the context of this project is it reference design, which make possible access HTPC functionalities using different technologies, such as UPnP and XML-RPC. In this paper we briefly explain our reference design, and its main components. Also, we show two developed solutions, one for the MediaPortal HTPC, and another to the Freevo HTPC. It is discussed how they were developed, and the evaluation scenario with mobile devices.
