Abstract
In recent decades, the protection and use of intellectual property has become a key element in industrial competition. By protecting and commercializing intellectual property, entrepreneurs continue to build corporate strength on the foundation of its accomplishments. A government's intellectual property policy could create an environment for protecting and utilizing the property, which would directly influence industrial practice of intangible assets. Taiwan's success in the development and manufacturing of high technology over the past twenty years has provided the government and industry with suitable opportunities to form its intellectual property policy. This paper analyzes the intellectual property policy of Taiwan. It consists of five parts: (1) a review of the policies of intellectual property protection in leading countries; (2) an evolution history of Taiwan's intellectual property policy; (3) analysis of the current practice of intellectual property protection in Taiwan; (4) development of industrial IP system in Taiwan and (5) strategic reforming of Taiwan's intellectual property infrastructures.
