Abstract
The cooperation between the university and industry is one of the major aims of our country as all others in the world. Actions taken in this area, aim to boost regional and national development. Although, many dissertations on both MBA and PHD level are being suggested in the universities, as research on promoting the processes, methodology and operations of enterprises are scarce, the obtained data cannot be transferred to the industry. In order to develop realistic solutions for university-industry cooperation, and also act proactively, there is initially need for detection of the needs and expectations of firms and also research to promote the relationship. There is also need for the impediments of the firms in competing in both domestic and international arena and there is also need for further research in this context. Industrial institutions expect the universities to make contributions to their processes, management models, marketing opportunities, organizational climate, profitability and productivity issues and also new means of services provided for them to make use of the knowledge created in the universities while constructing sustainable ways of communication. The main aim of our project is to develop an inventory for detecting the needs of the industry and match them with the opportunities provided by universities and lastly develop a roadmap by using the obtained data. With in this context, the phases of our research include the application of a survey to the firms in Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye and Hatay on expectations from the universities and the obtained data will be analyzed and also be presented to the concerned institutions.
