Communication between health professionals

Abstract

One of the problem which causes patient dissatisfaction is communication between health professionals with patient and or the family, or between health professionals themselves. If the communication in a health institution becomes more complicated, the obstacle of communication is increased. There are 3 kinds of underlying causes which could have impact to the professionals relationship:(1) role stress, (2) lack of interprofessional understanding, and (3) autonomy struggles. Conflict among health professionals is important because in turn it will influence their communication and the quality of health services. This paper aimed to convey the comprehension of communication in a health institution/organization, how communication is conducted, identification of communication problem, the causes of communication problems, and how to overcome the obstacles so that the quality of health services can be enhanced. Enthusiastic collaboration between health professionals is needed for the success of health services. Keywords: communication, interprofessionals
