Meter readings will also be sent to the control room via SMS notifications through the use of a microcontroller fed GSM modem. Abstract

Accurate and reliable measurement of energy consumed by residential, industrial, and commercial properties is crucial in billing, controlling, and monitoring of energy usage by both the supplier and the consumer. Conventional energy metering methods are prone to various forms of irregularities; like energy theft, loss of revenue due to fraud, capturing of incorrect meter readings due to human error and so on.
