Abstract
In this paper the authors propose design of all optical NAND gate using semiconductor optical amplifier in two different configurations: one SOA with filter for selecting only the ultra fast component and another using SOA-MZI configuration to cancel out the slow response component of SOA. Time domain as well as power level analysis have been performed for both the schemes. Results of these two designs are compared on the basis of bit rate permissible, extinction ratio, efficiency and power penalty.
