This paper analyzes the advantages of distributed fault location. Multiple smart devices are used to monitor the line’s traveling wave speed on-line to reduce the influence of wave speed measurement errors and transmission line length errors as much as possible, so as to more accurately locate faults. By analyzing the split-phase current in the fault component, the faulty phase and section of the transmission line are located based on the principle of phase difference.
