Abstract

For ferromagnetic materials, Low frequency acoustic waves can be excited by implementation of magnetostrictive effects and received by piezomagnetic effects. For guided waves inspection in steel plate, it is prerequisite to design a transducer that can excite and receive a pure mode guided wave. In this paper, a new optimized design method for electromagnetic acoustic transducer is proposed by using shear horizontal guided waves propagation in steel plate. The experimental results show that the electromagnetic acoustic transducer designed according to this method is better to implement the excitation and reception of a pure guided wave mode
