Investigation of Homophonic Encryption on Zodiac Z408 and Z340 Ciphers

Abstract

This article investigates homophonic encryption on the example of the known cipher Z408 and Z340, and analyzes their problems for further use of the result of the article in an attempt to improve and correct the main shortcomings of this type of encryption. Similar encryption methods and studies of similar problems were also considered. Strengths, and weaknesses were sought. In the practical part, an encryption system similar to Z408 was created and a study of the complexity of using this encryption method for automation was conducted.
