Abstract
A circular polarisation frequency selective surface converts linearly polarised waves into circular polarised ones or reflects one sense of circular polarisation and transmits another. While known designs made with meanderlines often employ several cascaded surfaces with many interconnects; the design feature reported here is a single planar surface of very closely arrayed metallic meanderline loaded with rectangular patches. This approach permits a broadband polariser that opeates over a wide frequency range and angles of incidence. The finite element method and waveguide simulator technique are used to analyse the reflected and transmitted plane waves from these surfaces on normal and oblique incidence.
