Abstract
In this article, we present the use of GeoGebra as a tool to help students in the learning process of Differential Calculus in the first semester in the courses of engineering at Universidad Católica del Norte in Chile. We present initial results of the design, experimentation and evaluation of the use of GeoGebra for the topics of limit and continuity as a prototype class. The students learn the topics through video explanations one week before they get in to the classroom. The classroom work is oriented as an active learning activity forming groups of three students in a process of problem solving as a workshop style. Each group has a tablet to use GeoGebra dynamic pages to solve problems in the classroom, which offers to the students an opportunity to learn the topics of limits and continuity as both an algebraic and geometric representation simultaneously. Students engage with the GeoGebra application and they find it intuitive and easy to use.
