Abstract

USDA researchers in Beltsville, Maryland, have developed various spectral imaging technologies for applications in food safety and quality evaluations of agricultural commodities. We pioneered the online implementation of hyperspectral line-scan imaging technologies in a food processing environment, such as wholesomeness inspection of broiler chickens, and online safety and quality inspection of fresh produce.
