Considering that an ATV will have in several moments’ suddenly accelerations/decelerations, electrical and thermic characteristics of a lithium-ion battery in different operation conditions are important to be detailed in order to design a battery management system. Also in this paper it will be presented how a thermic motor of 125cmc, 9 HP, was replaced with a 36V, 1000W, brushless motor. Abstract

This paper describes the control of an electric vehicle (all-terrain vehicle) which has been obtained by modifying a normal thermic one. The main purpose of this paper is to study performances of an electric vehicle by taking in considerations aspect like temperature variations inside of the Lithium-ion battery pack, electric motor characteristics and the efficiency of electric energy.
