Abstract
This paper describes the control of an electric vehicle (all-terrain vehicle) which has been obtained by modifying a normal thermic one. The main purpose of this paper is to study performances of an electric vehicle by taking in considerations aspect like temperature variations inside of the Lithium-ion battery pack, electric motor characteristics and the efficiency of electric energy. Considering that an ATV will have in several moments’ suddenly accelerations/decelerations, electrical and thermic characteristics of a lithium-ion battery in different operation conditions are important to be detailed in order to design a battery management system. Also in this paper it will be presented how a thermic motor of 125cmc, 9 HP, was replaced with a 36V, 1000W, brushless motor. The study will bring into discussions aspects like autonomy of the vehicle, energy consumption and will be presented all the benefits obtain from an electric vehicle and green energy.
