A Survey on Live Virtual Machine Migration

Abstract

Virtual Machine Migration not only assists in network load balancing, but also provides other benefits such as energy saving and efficient utilization of network bandwidth, to name a few. This survey focuses on the various techniques used for Virtual Machine Migration, and covers the traditional pre-copy approach along with its variants as well as some of the recently developed alternatives to it.
