In order to analyse this, it is crucial to understand the rock mass behaviour due to the stress conditions. This study aims to identify regions at the Mine III decline where is expected instabilities promoted by stress variation. It will be estimated by numerical modelling at MAP3D software, considering the planned openings in 2020 and 2021. The methodology consists in simulate the stopes opening and check the variation of σ1 and σ3 at the roof along the decline. The Mohr-Coulomb failure criteria will be used to determine the instability and the rupture envelope was obtained from retro-analysis of the normal and shear stress components, obtaining the cohesion and friction angle values that will be used to calculate the σ1max values for all σ3 values obtained in the modelling. The results obtained have indicated that some crosscuts to access the oredrives presented safety factors less than suitable.
