Abstract
Parent selection methods act as a critical role in the data transmission of the AMI network. Currently, two methods using CR technology for parent selection are presented including MPS method based on single parent selection platform and the EHPS method based on hybrid parent selection platform. From a previous studied, it was found that selecting a parent of the MPS and the EHPS method showed that CR can enable improved balancing energy and increase transmission distances. However, the performance of workload balancing and transmission between these two methods has not been compared yet. In this paper, we investigate the performance of two parent selections consisting of the MPS method and the EHPS method. In the simulation results, the average network lifetime of MPS method is higher than the EHPS method and the PDR of the MPS method is equal to EHPS when distances less than 60 m. Because MPS method transmits data as a single parent which consumes much less power than multiple parents.
