Abstract

This work presents a performance study of static power converters (SPC) for a self-excited induction generator (SEIG) driven by a wind turbine emulator (WTE). The WTE consists of an induction motor (IM) tied to an electrical grid via a variable speed drive (VSD) controlled by a wind turbine model block. The SPC control is based on regulation of the inductance current and the output voltage. However, the overall control design is modeled on Matlab/Simulink through block diagrams in which power and control stages are designed separately. A given wind profile scenario is proposed in order to evaluate the performance of the control strategies of the SPC with the WTE.
