Abstract

Assessment of electric field along corona-suppression systems for high voltage rotating machines is fundamental for the design of reliable gradient systems. This paper presents the results of a study focused on the modeling and analysis of the electrostatic potential and field along corona-suppression systems for high voltage machines. The model is based on the finite difference method. A correlation between the gradient system resistance and the electric field distribution is discussed. The effect of the main insulation design parameters on the electric field enhancement is presented in this study.
