EXISTENTIAL MOTIVES MOTIVES IN THE CYCLE OF THE SECRET SONETS BOHDANA KRAVTSIVA

Abstract

The existential motives in the cycle of prison sonnets of the Ukrainian poet Bohdan Kravtsiv, included in the collection «Sonnets and Stanzas» (1933), are considered in the article. The existential-philosophical concepts of «boundary situation», «loneliness», «death», «freedom of choice» are analyzed. The topos of the prison in the sonnets of the poet is universalized with the intra-psychological rejection of bondage and courageous confrontation with the restriction of free personality by violent prison conditions. It was investigated that in the poetry of prison sonnets B. Kravtsiv the philosophical idea of ​​«stoicism» – an unbroken personality that prevails, despite the prison bars, remains free and faithful in his convictions.
