Abstract
The paper deals with the use of the Stewart platform simulation model created in the Matlab/Simulink and the Simscape library, for comparison purposes of used linear actuators characteristics. There are introduced linear electric and hydraulic actuators, its strengths and weaknesses and its suitability for the Stewart platform application. In the next part, there are presented predefined simulation models of both actuators and tools that allow to switch easily between hydraulic and electric variant of the Stewart platform simulation model. In the last part, the obtained simulation results are compared. The gained insight can be valuable for choosing a suitable variant for the Stewart platform application.
