Abstract
The adoption of BIM has given a new lease of life to the construction industry. Aware of its contribution, many countries have forced its implementation in the different trades of Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Owner Operators (AECO). Nevertheless, much of the scarce existing literature around BIM in the Kingdom of Morocco is focused on a few case studies of BIM, with an absence of attention to the level of knowledge, awareness, and adoption of BIM in Moroccan construction. To gain insight into Moroccan's BIM experience, an exploratory survey was conducted in an online questionnaire followed and completed by a qualitative process based on interviews of a population of professionals and academics. The results confirm the existence of moderate knowledge about BIM and provide important information about the issues, issues, trends, and opportunities for BIM to become an essential component in the construction sector. The academic and professional community can use these findings to develop targeted interventions on BIM adoption in Morocco.
