Abstract

The best way to prevent deadly effect of natural disasters is to anticipate, be educated, and informed. It is imperative to have a master plan covering business continuity (BC) and disaster recovery (DR) to anticipate, prepare, and contain, with minimal mitigation effort. This chapter aims to broaden the awareness, prevention, and preparedness of data center owners toward natural, technological, and man-made disasters as well as pandemics. On March 11, 2011, a subduction zone earthquake of magnitude 9.0 occurred off the Pacific coast of Tohoku, often referred to as the Great East Japan Earthquake in Japan. The most threatened and worst scenario is a combination of natural disaster and nuclear power plant shut-down or pandemic happening at the same time. The examples include the 2011 earthquake and the Great East tsunami in Japan, April 13, 2020 disaster of Southeast tornado, during the COVID19 pandemic. © 2021 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
©2021 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc。
