Virtual Law Firms in Nigeria: A Chimera or the New Reality Model Law Practice?

Abstract

This article aims to look at one of the emerging trends in the practice of Law which is the fast-rising reality of virtual, cloud-based law firms that is a remove from the conventional, brick-and-mortar law office model that has been in existence since the inception of law practice in the country and since Time Immemorial all over the world. This article aims to showcase the fact that, with the rise in the use of extremely sophisticated technology, sophisticated clients are increasingly on the need for service providers that meet up with their own level of sophistication and can be trusted to handle complex matters from anywhere and which results the client has access to without having to spend the time rushing to the offices of his legal representative(s). Consequently, a lot of firms that are still very brick-and-mortar focused are now becoming increasingly redundant and unpopular with clients who want a more inclusive, cloud-based package that can service their needs from anywhere.
