Abstract

In modelling crosstalk on printed circuit boards, the distributed parameter transmission line model is applied to in­ clude the effects of electromagnetic coupling between lands. Us­ ing a finite element approach to calculate the per-unit length parameters, this paper outlines an effective procedure for pre­ dicting the time domain induced voltages and currents in a general ’n + l ’ parallel conductor configuration. Implemented in a computer program, results obtained using this procedure compare well with available theoretical and measured data.
