Certainly, the fifth generation (5G) networks are emerging as the key enabler supporting IoT systems. In this paper, we discuss the potential of 5G technologies and architecture for the future IoT systems. We review the main 5G enablers for the IoT systems. Abstract

With the introduction of Internet of Things (IoT), we are witnessing the greater use of the mobile Internet with the exponential explosion of smartphones, tablets, and laptops. The IoT paradigm is revolutionizing the way we live, work, and communicate. In this context, the availability of a connectivity technology, which is reliable, scalable, and efficient, will play a major role to develop the emerging IoT system. Certainly, the fifth generation (5G) networks are emerging as the key enabler supporting IoT systems.
