Abstract

Renewable Energy sources like Photovoltaic (PV) systems are available in present grids. Under small signal disturbances, the presence of PV affects the stability. In this paper both PV and various Flexible AC Transmission system (FACTS) devices has been added in a standard two area systems for stability studies. This has been done by comparing the damping offered by different FACTS devices and PV. The detailed analysis is done using time domain simulations. The steady state stability as well as voltage profile is also thoroughly discussed. All the simulations and analysis are performed in PSAT toolbox of MATLAB.
