The Role of Practicing Majzoob in the Popular Traditional Haḍra amid the Pandemics Anthropological Study

Abstract

The current anthropological study aimed at monitoring the role of practicing Majzoob in the popular traditional Haḍraamid the pandemics through “the existent representations in the urban sphere of the Ancient Palace of Ouargla”. Hence, the study got into the general structure of Haḍra. It looked into its basic components, practices, and the adopted mechanisms in facing the current pandemics. It also investigated the way it contributed to achieve adaptation, to that end, ethnographic approach was adopted. Data were obtained using instruments such as participants observation, in-depth interviews, and informants. The sample of participants have included the leaders of Haḍra, and those who rebelled against it. The pandemic crisis in Ouargla area has demonstrated its role in reliving of beliefs and practices with which superstition, magic, Jinns, and spell recitation have been mingledin order to enhance its permanent legitimacy and the ability hereof to adapt in different contexts and environments.
