Abstract

In this paper we present an approach on how novices' programming can lead to personally meaningful everyday artifacts using digital fabrication. We tie in with participants' likes, experiences or wishes and use programming to create simple designs from these ideas. The designs are to be cut from heat transfer material and can be worn on textiles. We show how this approach has been adopted to diverse target groups such as girls only or refugees in a school setting and that the results were strongly connected to individuals' life worlds.
