Abstract

In this paper we demonstrate a design of a low profile narrowband metamaterial structure based antenna by using triangular electromagnetic resonator (TER) as its radiator excited by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed. After the model building and simulation, the antenna is resonating at a frequency of around 5.2 GHz and has the omnidirectional radiation pattern during the operating frequency. The proposed metamaterial antenna has the advantages of simple fabrication, miniaturization and compactness, which can be applied to HIPERLAN and 4G wireless mobile Communication system.
