RealPlaces, 3D Interfaces for Office Applications

Abstract

The RealPlaces design guidelines describe a three-dimensional environment. A RealPlaces environment might be used to replace the now-conventional two-dimensional shell. This paper presents a framework structuring these guidelines, and for user-interface guidelines in general. It also describes some of the guidelines, how they were devised and how they help the user.
